7. Pricing and availability
7.1 We list availability information for products sold by us on the website, including on each product information page.
7.2 From time to time and despite our best efforts, a small number of products on our website are mispriced. If a product's correct price is lower than our stated price, we charge the lower amount and send you the product. If a product's correct price is higher than our stated price, we will contact you, giving you the option to cancel your order.
7.3 From time to time and despite our best efforts, products may appear for sale on our website which are no longer available. When this is the case, we are unable to honour orders for such products and will contact you to inform you of the cancellation of your order.
When you place an order with us, you are deemed to have accepted the Terms & Conditions set out here. Please read them carefully as its contents are important. Thank you!
8.1 Ginger Cake Home & Gift will deliver any order to UK mainland addresses for a standard Postage & Packing charge of just £5.95 per address, for items under 20 kilos, and less than 1.2 m in any direction. Shipments to the Scottish Highlands are £11.00, to Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands, it is £21.00, and to Europe its £24.30. Please call us for a quote, if the delivery address is outside Europe.
8.2 NB All carrier deliveries must be signed for. Please provide us with an address where the parcel can be signed for. When you are asked to sign for the delivery, please print the words 'CONTENTS UNCHECKED' before signing. Otherwise goods damaged in transit are uninsured.
8.3 The exception to the standard P&P charges are larger items (such as furniture). The charge for Shipping & Packing these items is £12.50, and for the larger and heavier items it is £39.00 to anywhere within the UK. We will notify you when the furniture is ready for delivery and agree upon a date. If you would like to specify morning or afternoon, Saturday morning delivery time, then that would be an extra cost, and you would need to call us to arrange that. You are also very welcome to collect from here. For areas outside the UK mainland, please call us for a quote.
The postage and packing charge include delivery cost, packaging materials and handling.
8.4 When furniture is delivered, it is delivered by one person. This person is likely to need assistance with the delivery into you home. The driver will need unimpeded lorry access to your house. Please inform us when ordering, if there maybe a problem with access. If we are not informed and there is a problem with the delivery, the item will be returned to us and we will have to charge you again for the cost of this return, which is lightly to be higher then the original delivery charge.
8.5 DELIVERY TIMES If you are sending a cheque, we will need to wait 7 days after we receive it, to process the payment. Goods will not be sent until we have received and processed the cheque. For all other payments methods, providing we are in stock, we aim to ship as quickly as possible (usually within 24 -48 hours of receipt of your order), but please allow 28 days for delivery. Delivery of out-of-stock items may take up to 6 weeks. Furniture items made to order can take approximately 6 weeks. We are a small business and our standards are high and consistent with each item, although small differences may occur as they are all individually made, so we hope you will bear with us on our delivery times.
8.6 When you have placed your order with us, you will be sent a confirmation email with your order details. If you do not receive this email, please let us know on info@ginger-cake.co.uk. The day your order is shipped, you will be sent a dispatch email, with your order number and the delivery address. For the larger items, a date for delivery will be given and agreed with you, before it is shipped.
9. Returns and refund policy
9.1 At Ginger Cake Home & Gift we operate a no-quibble refund guarantee. If you are not happy with the item. just return it - unused in the original packaging - within 7 days of receipt, and we will refund the money to you, minus the P&P charge. Just complete and enclose the Returns form with the item, and send it to:

9.2 BESPOKE ORDER ITEMS 'Bespoke Order' items are those that are ordered especially to your specifications. if you wish to cancel a 'Bespoke Order' item, after the first 7 days cooling-off period, there is a cancellation charge of 25% of the item price. As 'Bespoke Order' items are ordered especially for you, they are non- returnable for any other reason than they are faulty.
9.3 Items that are returned to us remain the customer's responsibility (and a refund will not given) until they are received by us in good order. We therefore strongly recommend that you retain your proof of postage, in case the parcel gets lost and you need to make a claim from Royal Mail. Goods are returned at your own expense.
9.4 If the item was damaged when you received it, or the wrong item was sent, please notify us within 5 days of receipt. Please return it to us and we will refund the postage - Standard Parcel or 2nd Class postage charges only. Again, please make sure you retain your proof of postage, as above.
9.5 Should a product have deteriorated while in your possession, we are unable to make a refund in full or in part.
9.6 If you would like to exchange an item for another item of different value, we will refund you in full for the goods you are returning and take separate payment for the new/exchanged product(s). We will contact you when we are exchanging or refunding. Please allow 14 days.
9.7 UNDELIVERABLE PARCELS If your parcel is shipped by carrier, you will receive an email with the tracking number of your parcel, as well as the phone number for the carrier. Please phone them if your parcel has not been delivered after 3 days. If we become aware that a delivery has been unsuccessfully attempted and you have not been in touch with the carrier, we will contact you by email to remind you. However, we are not always aware of delivery problems, and sometimes the parcel gets returned to the distribution centre as having been undeliverable. If this is the case, then the carrier will charge again for delivery.
If you do not have an email address, please phone us to obtain your parcels tracking number.
9.8 This agreement does not affect your statutory rights.

10. Customs
10.1 When ordering goods from us for delivery overseas you may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once the package reaches the specified destination.
10.2 Any additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by you; we have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be. Customs policies vary widely from country to country, so you should contact your local customs office for further information. Additionally, please note that when ordering from us, you are considered the importer of record and must comply with all laws and regulations of the country in which you are receiving the goods. Please note that cross-border deliveries are subject to opening and inspection by customs authorities.
11. Health & Safety
11.1 Ginger Cake Home & Gift. Some of the products available from our website are authentic, original products which were manufactured before today's stringent health and safety standards. All sales of such goods are for collection purposes only. We do not guarantee or imply any guarantee of compliance with health and safety standards or fitness for any purpose. All original antique products are clearly marked as such in the product description with a date or approximate date of manufacture
11.2 Ginger Cake Home & Gift. In particular, while they may be perfectly safe for use, vintage electrical goods may not meet current UK standards - we recommend that all electrical goods are inspected, tested, certified and installed by a qualified electrician. We also recommend that vintage electrical goods are protected by a "RCD". Ginger Cake Home & Gift will not be liable for any loss, injury or death caused by electrical goods that have not been inspected, tested and certified by a qualified electrician. Where electrical items have been rewired at our instruction and made ready for sale and use they have been serviced by an experienced and qualified electrician with who bears full responsibilty for such work carried out, details of the electrical engineer are available on request.
12. Condition of items offered.
12.1 Ginger Cake Home & Gift. Items that are manufactured some time ago often have marks, dents, variations of surface texture, repolished surfaces, minor scratches or losses, sympathetic replacements, retouching, relining, reframing, and other issues naturally associated with use and age and form a part of the appearance and nature of a vintage or antique item or work of art. We aim to ensure that the condition of any item is as reasonable as possible given its age and nature, and would not offer for sale any item that is not substantially complete or in a minimum acceptable condition for display or use. Substantial damage or extensive restoration or changes or losses to the item beyond this will be stated in our item descriptions.
13. Children
13.1 We do not sell products for purchase by children.
14. Electronic communications
14.1 When you visit our website or send e-mails to us, you are communicating with us electronically. We may communicate with you by e-mail . For contractual purposes, you consent to receive communications from us electronically and you agree that all agreements, notices, disclosures and other communications that we provide to you electronically satisfy any legal requirement that such communications be in writing.
